It's a literal Voter Registration Drive!
Six Georgia Democrats are going to Denver and will make the journey in an RV, to make this historical convention even more memorable. Four of the trip members are official members of the Georgia DNC Delegation. The crew members are: Bernita Smith, Angela Trigg, Nikema Williams, Jeffrey Marc Meeks, Leslie Small and Mark Gettleson.
We’re headed to Denver in a most unique fashion – we’re traveling from Atlanta to Denver in an RV. Road Rules – Democrat style! We will eat, sleep, and travel for 6 days prior to the start of the Convention.
This is our celebration of an amazing campaign by an inspiring candidate. A candidate who inspired us all to want more from our country. A candidate that knows we need a Democrat in the White House to better future generations of Americans. Four of the six RV mates are Hillary Clinton Delegates.
When we will leave Denver, we will be a more unified Party. A Party that stresses unity, security and change. Led by a nominee who wants change that works for all Americans by restoring the economic balance that has been lost in recent years. A nominee that wants to unburden American families by ending the war, providing health care for every American, providing a quality education for every child, making college affordable for everyone, and rebuilding America's positive image throughout the world.

Busted Flat in Houston (includes video)
As you've probably already read on here, Wednesday was not a good day on so many levels, the biggest of which was learning of Congresswoman Jones' passing. Wednesday also found us stranded on a tiny strip off the highway while all six of our tires were replaced. Five of out six tires were dry-rotted and one of them had developed a crack in it in Selma, but we were like, 'oh that looks fine'. We filled it up in Dallas, but when we rolled into Houston it was very low on air again. When the tire folks assessed it, they found that 4 others were dry-rotted and that the spare was completely useless. So they took the one good tire off and made it the spare and gave us all new tires. |

Campaign for Change Office
After a long day of doing a pledge to vote drive in Santa Fe, NM, we headed to Taos - our final destination spot before Denver. As we were driving, we saw a Campaign for Change office and noticed that there was a light still on at the office at 8:00 pm.
We stopped in and found Lucas Botello still grinding away in Espanola, NM. He was a little shocked to see us - but who isn't shocked to see 6 people get off an RV in the middle of the dark on a Friday evening and say "hey, can we come into your office". |

Carlos and Mickey's
Last night we finally made it to one our evening destination spots at a reasonable "happy hour" time. After much googling, we decided to go to Carlos and Mickey's mexican restaurant in El Paso.
After eating a wonderful and authentic mexican meal full of laughter, we put Mark to work to secure some pledge to vote cards. |

Toyah, Texas - Ghost Town
We took a break from the long drive to El Paso and stopped by Toyah.
Toyah currently has two businesses. A gas station and a tire repair shop. Most of the residents work 18 miles away in Pecos. At one time there were over 1,000 residents of Toyah, a fact that is proven by its substantial brick buildings.
The telephone directory shows 40 subcribers not including county and state agencies/offices.
The town dates to 1881, the year that the railroad came through. Stagecoaches connected Toyah with Fort Stockton that same year. |
